Before the end of 2013 is out, I just had to share this wedding I did make up for back in June 2013, which has been featured on Love My Dress.  The stunning photography captures all the beautiful details of this vintage inspired wedding.  It was such a pleasure doing make up for all the girls that morning, they were all so lovely.  As it was a warm sunny summers day, we kept the make up fresh, soft and natural, like a holiday glow.  I used bronze and coral tones and kept skin radiant and healthy.  If you're looking for inspiration for your own upcoming wedding day, click on the link for all the photos and information.  Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! xo

Clare @ Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour came up with an awesome idea for a photoshoot, just in time to celebrate Halloween – THE MONSTER MASH!!  The shoot comprised of 4 series old movie posters, each depicting the characters; Dracula, The Mummy, Wolfman and Frankenstein.  Clare asked me to do make up for the shoot and I was on board without hesitation.  We did not want the usual cheesy Halloween blood and gore vibe.  Instead the aim was to create sexy, alluring, emotional images which portrayed a story, and we feel we definitely achieved this and more.  Hope you like the finished product and I’ve included some behind the scenes photos aswell.  This shoot was also featured in Clare’s monthly article in Gladstone Magazine.

Gabby Young and the other Animals performed in Belfast on Halloween night as part of The Belfast Festival line up.  I was lucky enough to be asked to create a make up look for Gabby and her violinist, Emily.  They both have an eclectic, funky and creative style so the make up had to live up to the performance.  And as it was Halloween, I wanted to go all out.  The inspiration Gabby gave me was cobwebs, but I wanted it to be beautiful so I used a new product called Face Lace which adhered around her eyes giving a beautiful lacy but dark striking look.  I applied iridescent glitter to her lids which would give light and sparkle when it hit the stage lights.  Clare @ Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour created big gorgeous sexy Victoriana hair, and finished off with a dark purple lip she looked truly bewitching!  For Emily, I painted on a black stripe right across her eyes then pressed on a glittery loose pigment which really set it off.  Along with pale matte skin, rosy pink cheeks, and red lips, a beauty spot then finished of the Marie Antoinette inspired look.  Such lovely talented girls, if you get to chance, go see them at one of their gigs!

1. Preparation is key, so start by cleansing the face then apply a nice hydrating moisturiser. Using a Primer will help your make up to stay in place so apply this before your foundation.

2. If using a liquid foundation, applying with a brush or sponge will give you a lovely result, just keep blending it out for a soft velvety finish.   Here I used a soft pink cream blush for that rosy glow and then used a translucent powder for a matte finish and to set the make up into place.

3. Brows are such an important element as they frame your face.  Using an angled brush and brow powder, use soft feathery strokes to fill in and shape your brows.  For this look, it is good to extend the brow, so in one soft but confident motion, take the brow out and down further on the outer edge, gently tapering off the pressure of the brush as you finish.

4. Keep the eyelids light, just define the crease with a soft taupe colour and blend out well.  The winged-out eyeliner is the feature of this look so here is how to get the right angle for your eye shape.

5. Take a brush (or pencil) and angle it from the outer corner of your nose, to the outer corner of your eye, and finishing at the outer end point of your brows.  The angle of the brush (or pencil) created at your eyeline will give you a guide as to the angle you should wing out your liner.

6. To start, you can draw in a faint guide line which will help to keep you on track to creating the right angle.  Then it’s a matter of drawing in your eyeline and filling in the triangular shape at the outer corner to give you the perfect winged out liner.

7. Using a lip pencil, draw on nice full lips.  Then using a lip brush, apply a red lip colour of your choice.  A little trick is to highlight the outer edge of the lip which makes the red lip look crisp and full.

8. To finish, adding on a few individual lashes to the outer corners of each eye will give you that glamorous flick out and will open up the eyes even more.

And voila!  An easy way to achieve a glamorous vintage pin up look that even Dita Von Teese would be proud of!!

27 Feb 2012 - 84th ANNUAL ACADEMY OSCAR AWARDS 2012

The A-listers walked the red carpet last night for the 84th Annual Academy Awards and they didn't disappoint with plenty of glitz and glamour.  For me there were so many good make up looks it was hard choosing my favourites!  But the stand out for me was Milla Jovovich with her matte red lips, blushing pink cheeks and sultry defined eyes.  Along with her chic hair style and effortless Elie Saab gown, I thought she looked amazing.  Another stand out for make up was Emma Stone.  I thought her skin looked beautiful and dewy, and I just love the barely there blush pastel pink on her eyelids, bang on trend at the moment, and compliments the raspberry colour of her dress perfectly.  Her flicked out eyeliner gives lovely definition and is the statement piece of her make up.  I love Kelly Osbourne, she knows how to have fun with her look but remains elegant every time.  I love the pop of bright pink on her lips which contrasts perfectly with her lilac hair and black dress.  Rooney Mara's make up is flawless with beautifully groomed brows, sculpted cheeks and matte red lips, again a lovely contrast to her white dress.  My final pick is Gweneth Paltrow who was understated elegance in a cream dress with a gorgeous glowing bronzed make up look.  I love her sunkissed cheeks and natural glossy lips, a vision of summer!

Belfast was a buzz with excitement playing host to the MTV EMA's on Sunday night.  Clare Afshar and I were lucky enough to be invited to be a seat filler for the V.VIP's at the event and we had a brilliant night!  A seat filler simply sits in place of an empty seat when an artist needs to leave to present or perform.  So we had the best seats in the house to see the show and got to sit next to some amazing people.  Among the celebrities at the event, we mingled with the likes of Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, David Guetta, David Hasselhoff, Katy Perry, Queen, LMFAO, Jason Derulo, Coldplay, Selena Gomez, Jared Leto, Katy B, Hayden Panettiere, and the most amazing of all, Lady Gaga!!!  She is amazing and I was so lucky to be able to sit in front of her!  We locked eyes and gave each other a cheeky smile...brilliant!  We weren't allowed to take photos when we were seated, so I tried to just get a few snaps when we were backstage.  Apologies if they are a little blurred, but it was all go!  What a fantastic night :)

Last month I was involved in a fashion photoshoot for which was shot on location at University of Ulster York Street Campus.  The fashion featured was the work of fashion textile students showcasing their final year collections.  The work of these students is outstanding and they will go far in their chosen career paths.  Being surrounded by so much inspiring art pieces, we got creative with make up, hair, and nails, deliberately choosing to be quirky and unconventional to reflect the artistic nature of this shoot.  Check out the feature on for more info and photos!

Now I know my blog (and website) does not normally cover topics such as golf, but on this occasion it does as I had the pleasure of working with US Open Champion, Rory McIlroy!  The US Golf Channel was in Belfast filming an interview with Rory after his recent success at the US Open.  I was in charge of hair and make up for Rory and for David Feherty, the interviewer.  We spent the day filming at Rory's home, and I have to say it was such a pleasure working with the Golf Channel crew, ultimate professionals!  The interview will be screened in the US on the Golf Channel, however it will also be available to view on their website on Wednesday 27th July

On Sunday 26th June 2011, I'll be exhibiting at the Bridal Fayre at The Old Inn, Crawfordsburn.  The fayre is open to the public from 1pm-5pm with free admission and a glass of bubbly on arrival.  I'll be there doing free mini make overs and offering as much advice I can give to all brides-to-be about their wedding day make up.  So come down and see me, say hello, get your make up done and take advantage of the special show offers I will have available on the day.  Can't wait to meet you all down there!

On 3rd May 2011 we undertook a creative photoshoot at Belfast Studio Rentals with the aim to showcase a fitting tribute to Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.  Jessica Weber did a lot of research and understanding into Frida's life, her beliefs, her art, and the people who influenced her, and from this Jess was able to create a series of images to appropriately emulate Frida.  Frida is notoriously recognised for her mono brow, so when it came to creating the perfect 'Frida' look for this shoot, I did not want to just paint on big black eyebrows, that would be totally missing the point.  Beyond the eyebrows, Frida was a beautiful person and I wanted to capture this beauty and bring Frida to life.  Yes I had to draw on and recreate that famous mono brow but the genius is in the detail as I carefully painted and shaped them to get the right look.  The result is a set of absolutely stunning images which we are all very proud to have produced.  From the images, Jessica also created an original collage, titled 'Zu Realist' which is currently exhibiting at Art Loves Fashion Exhibition at The Ivory.  This print sold on opening night but will be on display for the next month so make sure you go along to see it.  More images from the shoot can be seen on JWP website and JWP Blog.

Friday night was 'Dreamnight' at Belfast Zoo which saw over 200 families from the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice, Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children, and the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children attend.  The weather could not have been better for all that attended, the zoo was covered in sunshine, and along with Katrina Doran from, I was there representing NIPBA (Northern Ireland Professional Beauty Association) where we set up a pamper zone providing special pampering make ups to all the lovely ladies.  We were also very lucky to be positioned right next to a Thornton's Chocolate Fountain (yum yum!) so with the chocolate craving satisfied, I was able to refresh and relax all the well deserved ladies with a special makeover treat.  What a great annual event this is, I was honoured to be a part of it.

18 May 2011 - COCA COLA 125th ANNIVERSARY

Last week I had the pleasure of doing make up for a photocall for Coca Cola who are celebrating their 125th Anniversary!  Their theme was 1950's vintage pin up style so Clare Afshar of Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour created a gorgeous pin up style hairdo, and I whipped out my make up brushes and produced fabulous red lips, flawless skin, enhanced eyes, and well groomed brows on our model Jenny Curran.  With the iconic Belfast City Hall providing a very impressive back drop, this was featured in The Belfast Telegraph and will be popping up here and there in the media so keep an eye out!  Here is a sneak peak at a few of the fantastic photos we produced.  Enjoy! :)

This week I was on a photoshoot for Thomas Jewellers to put together some promotional shots for their jewellery range.  Recognised Belfast model, Louise McCavana, was chosen to be the face of Thomas and she did a stellar job bringing a sense of glamour and elegance to the overall look.  Our Photographer, Connor Tilson, really worked the studio to produce some amazing shots, and Dyanne Sweeney was in charge of creating beautiful hair.  I had the honour of doing the make up and we wanted to create three separate looks on the day for variety and interest.  I started with a very fresh natural look, then introduced summery warm coral colours which is bang on trend at the moment.  For our final look I went dark and dramatic on the eyes and lips creating a very edgy sophisticated look.  So check out some photos from behind the scenes and be sure to check in again soon as the official photos will be publicly released very soon…can’t wait to see them!!

On Monday 21st March, the ‘Women Talk’ section of The Irish News boasted a fantastic beauty feature on the Newry City Style fashion shoot we did last week.  The fashion shoot used the current trend of colour blocking to showcase some of the fantastic fashion available in Newry boutiques, and to help promote Newry City Style Fashion Events happening from 10-17th April.  I had the pleasure of doing make up for this shoot and in the article I explain how I achieved the look and I provide product recommendations.  All photos from the shoot will be featured on very soon or click on this link to see all the fashion looks.

4 Mar 2011 - WEDDING STYLE

The fabulous wedding of Claire Jordan & Jason Patton has been featured on, talking about all the fashion highlights and intricate details of their magical day.  Their wedding was held on New Years Day 2011 and I had the privilege of doing the make up for the bride and her bridal party.  All the girls were gorgeous (so my job was made very easy!) but I created a flawless, soft, pretty look for each of them, and kept all the tones consistent with their dresses, flowers, and their own skin and hair colouring.  Claire wanted a flawless finish, but didn’t want to be caked in too much make up.  The good thing about the professional products I use is that I can easily achieve these results which will last all day and night, yet your make up will feel like a second skin.  I used soft grey/silver tones on Claire’s eyes and a soft peachy pink cream blush on her cheeks to give a healthy radiant glow to her complexion.  A soft rosy pink tinted lipgloss was used to finish off her look, and I think you’ll agree when I say she looked absolutely stunning!

Should you wish to enquire about stunning, flawless wedding make up with superior longevity, and having the convenience of me coming out to you, please contact me for further information and to check my availability for your wedding date.

What a glitzy night it was last night at the Oscar Awards with an array of stunning dresses, lots of bling, and best of all, flawless make up!  It was difficult to choose my favourite looks this year but here are my stand out picks;…

Cate Blanchett was the winner for me, her dress was stuh-ning - beautiful yet edgy - and by keeping her hair and make up simple, it let her dress do all the talking!  Her skin was gorgeous and glowing, and I love her subtle peachy cheeks and lips, just enough to compliment and finish her look.

On a par with Cate is Michelle Williams, who definitely recovered after a poor turn out at the Emmy’s.  She looked gorgeous a girly in Chanel and her make up was soft and romantic, with a luminescent glow just like the pearls on her dress.  Even with Michelle’s fair skin and hair tone, her brows are well defined which gives a beautiful frame to her face, such an important element.

A wildcard for me is Amy Adams, someone who I usually skip past, but I thought she looked elegant and striking in her midnight blue sparkly dress.  Her hair was soft and flowing but I love how she turned up the volume on her make up with dark well defined eyes and a lovely raspberry coloured stain on her lip.

Someone who I love more and more is Mila Kunis who always looks sultry and stunning.  Her make up for the Oscars was a glamorous smokey eye in beautiful earthy coppery tones, the perfect complimentary colour to her lilac dress.  Because of Mila’s dark hair and skin tone, this look is perfect on her and she carries it off so well.  There’s no need for a strong lip colour here, her eyes speak volumes, so the way she has enhanced her own natural lip colour with a soft pink tone is ideal.

The overall trend for this year’s awards was very soft, romantic and girly, which is perfect to take inspiration from especially as we are heading into Spring/Summer.  So think relaxed, soft, natural make up rather than anything too structured or overdone and you’ll be bang on trend.

18 Jan 2011 - GOLDEN GLOBES 2011

The star studded 2011 Golden Globes took place on Sunday giving us a glimpse into what was hot on the red carpet this season.  As always there were highlights (and lowlights) but all in all the A listers didn’t disappoint, bringing old Hollywood glamour and elegance to the forefront.  I love the check out the make up trends at such prestigious events as this and have chosen some looks which stood out well above the rest.

Scarlet Johansson looked stunning and her peachy nude make up which toned in perfectly with her beautiful dress.  She wore apricot tones on her eyes and cheeks, and just a very light peach/pink lip stain finished her very polished look.  January Jones was also a stand out this year with her striking red dress and red lips to match.  She kept it simple and used individual lashes on the outer corners of her eyes, an easy way to get that glamorous feline shape and open up the eyes to the max.  I love Mila Kunis and thought she looked amazing in emerald green.  She teamed the perfect lip colour of coral which complemented her dress so well, and her eyes are soft yet defined with lots of lashes and smudged eyeliner.  Last but not least is Megan Fox, who shimmered in soft baby pink.  Her skin is flawless and luminescent, her eyes smoulder with charcoal grey, such a great choice against the soft pink (pure black could’ve been too harsh) and her light pink gloss finishes her look beautifully.

It was great to see everyone in their finest and I’m very much looking forward to the Oscar Awards next month to see what make up looks will hit the red carpet then!

We always tend to start a new year with a resolution or two, some we keep, some we don’t!  So it got me thinking about make up resolutions, and what kind of things can be done differently to enhance your own every day make up.  After thinking about a lot of the questions and advice my clients ask me for, I’ve put together these little make up resolutions for you, and how easy it can be to fulfill them all year round.

Resolution 1:  Endeavour to clean your make up brushes at least once a week.  Use a tiny pea size amount of hair conditioner and warm water to gently clean product and bacteria out of your brushes.  Gently massage the conditioner within the bristles and rinse very thoroughly.  If you do this in the evening, you can put them aside to dry overnight, ready for use the next morning.

Resolution 2:  Apply liquid foundation with a foundation brush.  99% of my clients ask me how can they achieve a flawless finish to their foundation.  The answer is to use a foundation brush.  Don’t overload your brush with too much product, blend the make up really well, and finish with a very light dusting of translucent powder to set your foundation in place.  It may take a few more minutes than applying with your fingers, but you get far better results.

Resolution 3:  Be open to trying new eyeshadow colours.  Trying new colours can be daunting and most of us stick to the usual brown or grey on our eyes.  Nothing wrong with that, however if you want to lift your make up look and step out of a rut, there is no harm in trying new colours.  Earthy tones will help make blue eyes pop, like bronze, copper, gold, apricot and peachy tones.  For green eyes, try deep plums and purples, and for brown eyes, try charcoal grey, licorice or foresty green colours.

In any case, help is at hand with your make up.  If you want to master make up techniques used by a professional, or find out what colours suit your skin tone, then why not book a one on one make up lesson with me which will be tailor made for your specific requirements.  Contact me for more information.

22 Dec 2010 - MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  2010 has been a fantastic year for me as a Make Up Artist....when I think back to all the beautiful brides I've had the privilege of doing make up for on their big day, and all the creative photoshoots I've been a part of, aswell as all the people I've had the pleasure to meet and work with along the way....what a ride!  Here's to an even bigger and better 2011!!  I hope everyone, wherever you are, has an enjoyable festive season and safe new year. xxx

30 Nov 2010 - FALLEN DANCER

Last month I was involved in a creative photoshoot with Jessica Weber Photography, who had a ballet inspired theme in mind.  It all came together very well with Jessica using some new and interesting techniques in her photography to get a very soft and eerie effect, which translated beautifully in the final pictures.  This photoshoot was very beautiful and edgy, so for the make up I went for flawless porcelain skin, and used a blackberry colour on the lips for dramatic impact.  On the eyes I used dark grey/black colours and concentrated on the inner contour of the eye instead of the outer contour which is usually the case.  The result - Fallen Dancer - is featured on so check it out to see all the final photos.  I hope you like them as much as I do! :)

Last weekend I had the pleasure of providing mini make overs at a Pin Up Event for Dyanne Sweeney Hairdressing.  And what a fantastic event it was!  On Friday and Saturday, we provided a one stop pampering shop with Dyanne Sweeney working her magic on beautiful up do's, Jannine Plunkett superbly filing and polishing nails in some of the hottest shades of the season, and of course I was on hand to create individual and glamorous make ups.  Most of the gorgeous girls went for a retro pin up style of make up, while others opted for sexy and sultry evening make up for their nights out on the town.  To top off all the pampering, every person had their own private mini photoshoot with Photography by Emma Jane, and could choose their favourite photo to keep in print….such a lovely way to end a relaxing and enjoyable pampering session!  It was such great fun for all of us involved as there was such a positive and uplifting vibe from all of our clients, so thank you to all of you!  We had such a great response that we are thinking of holding another event soon, so drop us a line with your interest and we’ll keep you posted!

Last week I did the make up for a Model Portfolio shoot with Jessica Weber Photography.  I love doing these as it is a chance to get really creative, not only for one look, but for several looks which is what makes a good portfolio.  To have different shots, different styling, variation and be able to show a models adaptability, is what is going to set your portfolio apart from others.  Our location was a local bar in Belfast city centre where Jessica set up different scenes and backdrops to work with.  For the make up I went with a dark sultry smokey eye which contrasted well with the models light blonde hair.  I intensified the brows as I wanted them to be strong and defined to really frame the face, and I used charcoal greys and black on the eyes adding lashes for extra drama.  I kept the lips a nude tone as we wanted all the focus on the eyes.  I simply used a creamy nude lipliner to define the outline of the lips and used this to fill in the entire lip colour.  To add a little extra attitude and drama to the look, I channelled an 80’s vibe and I used a bronzed coloured blush on the cheeks creating an emphasised angle of the cheek bone rather than a blush of colour on the apple of the cheeks.  For me it finished the look perfectly.  Should you be interested in having an individual and stylish model portfolio created for you by Jessica Weber and myself, give us a call!

On 31st October, I was involved in a collaborative photoshoot to create stunning bridal images.  It was shot on location at The Culloden Hotel and it was elegance all the way.  Our photographer, Emma Jane Lawther, depicted the stunning beauty of the Culloden, aswell as the sophistication of all the gorgeous dresses from Isobel Love Bridal Boutique.  We had a number of girls who did a great job modelling the gowns and really worked their individual make up and hair looks, as styled by me and our hairstylist, Dyanne Sweeney.  The weather was kind to us that day so we made the most of the outdoors aswell as inside to get lots of variation.  It was such a productive day so I know that Emma will have plenty of shots to choose from!  The photos from this shoot will be featured in my portfolio soon, but until then I took a few behind the scenes shots myself as a wee taster for you…enjoy!

A few weeks ago I did the make up for a portfolio photoshoot for model Emma Louise McCavana.  The style of the shoot was raw, beautiful and chic, so we worked through different looks throughout the day.  I started off with a very natural minimal make up look, by illuminating the skin, perfectly grooming the brows (the brows are so important as they frame the face), and bringing out the cheekbones.  Next look we stepped it up a little and I created a soft smokey eye look using charcoal grey tones on the eyes, definined the eyes with a soft black kohl pencil which I then smudged into the lash line, plus I added a blush of colour on the cheeks.  This look is so adaptable and is an understated glamorous look perfect for a night out.  For our final look, I wanted to make it edgy, so I used an electric pink on the eyelids and contoured the eye in black, carefully blending the two together to avoid harsh lines.  Lashings of mascara pumped up the lashes a little more for piercing eyes, and I simply stained the lips with a hot pink lip colour.  The final photos from the shoot will be displayed in my portfolio soon, but for now here are a few behind the scenes shots to give you a taster!  Photographer: James Brown @ ISO25 Photography, Make Up: Paula Fraser, Hair: Conor McCullough @ Paul Stafford Hairdressing, Model: Emma Louise McCavana, Videographer: Ciaran McClure

26 Sep 2010 - Vintage Fashion Show for Charity

Today I created a vintage make up look on the models who appeared in a Vintage Fashion Show in aid of The Alzheimer's Society - Memory Walk 2010 in Ormeau Park.  The fashion show was put together by Clare Afshar at Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour who also created some amazing hairstyles for the show.  I wanted the make up to be strong and bold, yet pretty and picturesque.  So I created strong brows, heavy eyeliner with a glamorous flick on the outer corners, big lashes and bright bold red lips.  I made sure the skin was flawless and I produced rosy pink cheeks using a cream blush for that pretty, radiant glow.  The girls looked smashing and the show was a success all round.

31 Aug 2010 - 62nd Emmy Awards 2010

The 62nd Emmy Awards 2010 took place on Sunday night giving us another chance to drool over gorgeous dresses, fabulous hair and make up, and of course gaze at the all important bling!  Of course being the make up freak that I am, I took a good close look at all the make up looks hitting the red carpet and found a few faces who stood out from the rest of the crowd.

This year I thought Claire Danes sparkled effortlessly in a golden shimmer from head to toe.  Her peachy cheeks gave her a healthy glow, and her long thick lashes made her eyes pop.  The soft pink glossy lips finished her polished look and she got it spot on.  Someone we don't see very often is Jewel and I thought she look gorgeous and girly at this year's Emmy Awards.  She wore soft nude tones from head to toe and her raspberry coloured lip gave us a puch of summery colour bringing the whole look together...beautiful.  Last but not least is January Jones who looked stunning in blue and kept her make up simple and minimal.  It was all about her flawless skin and nude lips, but her amazing long lashes give her enough definition and intensity to compliment her statement dress....gorgeous!!

29 Jul 2010 - Behind the Scenes at The Outlet Summer Fashion Photoshoot

A few months ago I had the pleasure of doing the make up for a lookbook fashion shoot of all the key SS10 season trends available from the stores at The Outlet.  The shoot was conducted by and the entire day was filmed so that people could get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes at a fashion photoshoot.  So I'm pleased to announce the finished product which is available to view on right now!  Hope you enjoy it!

27 Jul 2010 - Behind the Scenes

Today I did make up for a TV program, which is nothing new for me, except that they wanted to film hair and make up being done as part of the program!  I met a lovely crew from Swedish TV3 program 'Ensam Mamma' (meaning Single Mother Seeking), a reality TV program about a single mother's adventure to find true love with one of two lucky lads.  They wanted a rockabilly makeover, so Clare & Caroline from Vintage Rocks created some gorgeous hairstyles, and I performed my magic with make up!  At first it was daunting being in front of the camera, but we all soon relaxed and had a lovely afternoon getting to know each other.  The program will be aired in September 2010 and for anyone interested in watching it, I'll put a link on my site.  For the moment, enjoy the behind the scenes photos!

6 Jul 2010 - New Product - Lip Fixation

I have found a new product which I really like so I thought I'd write about it.  Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics have produced a long lasting lip colour/gloss called Lip Fixation.  It comes in three different colours called Craving, Desire and Fascination.  Now I would not be a fan of long lasting lip colours and would not normally recommend them to any of my clients, as I feel they are far too drying, it's like concrete on your lips...not a good look!  So when I came across this product, I was sceptical at first.  However, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it for myself.....and I was pleasantly surprised!!  This is the only long lasting lip colour I've come across which isn't dry or harsh on the lips.  The base colour goes on like a watercolour stain, then you apply a top coat of gloss and voila!  To touch up you can simply reapply a coat of gloss as the base colour will stay in place.  I think this is a great product for brides to be, as they will be able to have gorgeous luscious lips without having to touch up all the time!  Priced at £19.95 each I have them in stock now!

21 May 2010 - 'Art of Seduction' Workshop

This evening saw Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour host an evening called 'Art of Seduction', a workshop providing hints and tips on hair (by Clare Afshar), movie star make up (by me!), first class photography (by Jessica Weber), and sexy burlesque moves (by Lucy Morgan of The Whistle Bait Babies).  We had a fantastic bunch of girls attend the night, and while each and everyone of them had their hair and make up done, they also sipped on a glass of bubbly and nibbled on delicious cup cakes.  Jessica set up a set for each person providing them with an individual and creative photo and Lucy then gathered the girls for a bit of cheekiness and fun guiding them through the basics of burlesque.  Great craic was had by all and it was thanks to all our gorgeous girls for making it a memorable night.  We will be hosting another Art of Seduction workshop night soon, so I'll keep you posted!

9 May 2010 - The Outlet Photoshoot

12 Apr 2010 - Vintage Rocks Photoshoot

Today I worked on an awesome photoshoot for Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour.  The concept of the shoot was all about the sexy vintage pin up girl and the models absolutely rocked it.  Clare Afshar, owner of the salon, pulled out some amazing hair styling, and for the make up I concentrated on peachy porcelain skin, big eyes and lashes, and raspberry lips.  Jessica Weber was the photographer of the day and went all out to produce some amazing and creative photographs.  As soon as the final pics are ready they will be featured as part of my Spring 2010 Portfolio so make sure you check them out!

1 Apr 2010 - Pixiwoo girls

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Samantha and Nicola Chapman who are famously known as Pixiwoo, make up bloggers extraordinaire!  They were in Belfast today at the Illamasqua counter in Debenhams providing one on one consultations.  I had the rare treat of getting my make up done!!  Nicola created a dramatic smokey eye look for me and I love it!  We chatted about blogging, make up, travel, Belfast, Australia and Lady Gaga!  The girls were lovely and it was great to get an insight into what they love doing, which is what I also love doing….make up!!  An article on this and the new Body Electrics range by Illamasqua will soon feature on and in The Irish News, so stay tuned.

23 Mar 2010 - Kelly Osbourne... one word... STUNNING!

I know this isn’t really about make up, but I just would like to say that I think Kelly Osbourne is looking absolutely stunning lately!  I’m sure there are many out there who either love or hate her new lavender hair, but I love it.  She looks so healthy, toned and radiant, and I love the gorgeous dress she wore to the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscars 2010 Party.  Fabulous!

18 Mar 2010 - Formal Make Ups @ Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour

This afternoon I set up camp at Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour in Newtownbreda to do several formal make ups for some gorgeous girls who were in having their hair expertly styled by salon owner, Clare Afshar.  We had a right giggle (as we always do in Vintage Rocks) getting all the girls preened and ready for their formal night…how exciting!!  All the stops were pulled out from glamorous curls to smokey eyes to false eyelashes and lots of shimmer and sparkle.  The girls not only looked amazing but told us they felt amazing which is what really matters and makes me feel very satisfied and happy.  For more details on Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour to go

16 Mar 2010 - I'm on the wrong side of the camera!

Had a photoshoot today with photographer Jessica Weber to create new images for a model portfolio.  It went very well and we got some great shots especially as the model was very new but she had a very high fashion look.  Photos will be available at a later date and I’ll post onto my portfolio page.  But aside from this shoot, it was then my turn!!  I needed a new headshot to add to my new website and Jessica was up for the challenge.  I’m not used to being in front of the camera, I’m always behind it, so it was rather daunting for me!  Anyway after a lot of messing about and tears of laughter, we ended up getting a couple of good shots in amongst a lot of silly ones!  Just goes to show it is hard work in front of the camera and modelling is not as easy as some people think! ;-)

12 Mar 2010 - News from Fashion Weeks

February/March saw fashion weeks held in London, Paris, Milan, and even Belfast!  All the hottest designers showcased their A/W10 collections, but of course the big name on everyone’s lips was the legendary Alexander McQueen, whose recent passing shocked the fashion world.

Belfast based fashion photographer, Jessica Weber, was at each location to capture the catwalk and celebrity front rowers for Elle Magazine UK.  I asked Jessica to provide an overview of what she saw and also what she thought were the highlights of the event. “Highlights from the shows were the Hakaan show, the designer is relatively unknown but managed to pull in quite an impressive front row (with help from Elle Magazine) including Kate Moss and David Walliams.  David was there to see his fiancé Lara Stone walk down the catwalk.  She was one of many big name models who walked for Hakaan and the clothes were pretty impressive too.  I also got a gorgeous pic of Naomi Campbell after the Vivienne Westwood show.  Christopher Kane, the Fashion sweetheart, didn't disappoint again, his collection was gorgeous, lovely flower prints on leather.

I most look forward though to Vivienne’s show.  She always does her own thing and always has a political statement to go with it.  This time she was promoting awareness for Haiti and global warming alongside her beautiful garments”.

For me personally, I loved the make up in Vivienne’s show, I loved the heavily contoured and shaded faces of the models, a really interesting look and very innovative.  I also loved the make up in the Sass and Bide show with dark blackberry lips and nude eyes, very chic and edgy.

8 Mar 2010 - Oscars 2010 - Make Up Trends

The Oscar awards this year was a star studded and very glamorous event which saw all the A-listers turn it up to the max for the red carpet.  The stand out for me was Sandra Bullock.  Not only did she win the award for Best Actress, she also won hands down in the style stakes.  She was sleek and polished and the punch of berry pink lips against her stunning gold gown was spot on.  I also loved Sarah Jessica Parker with her smouldering smudgy smoky eyes and nude lips, very chic just like her Chanel gown.  And while the jury is out on Zoe Saldana’s dress, her make up look is perfect with flawless glowing skin, rosy cheeks and volumous thick lashes.  I love seeing the glamour and sparkle of any awards events but this years Oscars was the best yet!
